Bonaire is a great location for digital nomads and remote working year-round but the best time to visit depends on what you are optimizing your trip for.
If you’re looking for sunny days and warm temperatures then visiting Bonaire during the months of December through March is ideal. These are considered peak tourist months as well due to their perfect conditions for swimming or snorkeling in crystal clear waters, sunbathing on white sandy beaches or exploring nature trails around the island.
Best time for diving: For divers looking for optimal visibility underwater, consider traveling to Bonaire from October through February when the water is typically at its clearest due to minimal wind currents stirring up sediment from deeper depths of the ocean floor. Plus these months offer warm weather which makes it even more enjoyable!
For wreck dives or shallow coral reef dives, visibility is usually at its best during April through October when there is less rainfall and calmer seas due to fewer storms. However, if you’re hoping for an up-close encounter with some large marine life such as sharks or mantas then November through February is your best bet since this season brings cooler temperatures which attract more species into the area.
Bonaire is a premier destination for both windsurfing and kitesurfing. The island's trade winds blow consistently from December to March, making it the ideal time of year for these activities. During this period, the sea is generally flat with light chop, providing perfect conditions. If you're looking to take advantage of these great conditions and make the most out of your visit to Bonaire, plan on visiting between December and March.
May — September
The best time to visit Bonaire on a budget is between May and September. During this period, you can find great deals on flights, hotels, and car rentals.
This period also coincides with the rainy season in Bonaire, so there may be some rain during your stay. However, it’s still a great time to explore the island without spending too much money.
April — Mid-December
If you prefer a quiet life the best time to visit is during the low season. This time of year offers fewer crowds and better deals on flights, accommodations, and activities.
The weather during this period is generally mild with temperatures ranging between 79°F (26°C) and 86°F (30°C).
November — Feb
You’ll see the island from the end of the slower, dryer and warmer season into the cooler busier holiday period and into the new year (don’t miss the island-wide firework display)
